Security Guard Robbed By Machete Waving Thug


Police were called to Stanley Road in Bootle at around 10:45 yesterday morning after a man armed with a machete stole a cash box from a Security Guard outside Barclays bank near the strand shopping centre.

A local told the ECHO that the suspect who confronted said security guard was armed, police have since confirmed this allegation.

The suspect fled the scene in a red Nissan Juke which was being driven by a male accomplice, the juke headed off in the direction of Litherland and was later found abandoned in Jersey Close, near Strand shopping centre.

The raider is described as being tall, skinny and dressed in black and dark green with a black baseball cap.

The driver accomplice is describe to be of a large build, wearing a blue/black jacket, dark coloured shorts, white socks and a white hat/bandana.

A spokesman from the police spoke to ECHO and state: “Offices were contact at 10:45 following reports a cash box had been stolen from security guard outside a bank on Stanley Road by a man who believed to have been armed with a bladed weapon.”

Detective Chief Inspector Gayle Rooney said to ECHO: “I would appeal to anyone who was in the vicinity of Stanley Road, or any neighbouring road, this morning who saw anyone or anything suspicious to contact us as a matter of urgency.”

“I would also appeal anyone who believes they have CCTV or dash-cam footage to get in touch as they may have something which is vital to the investigation.”
